"MY LIFE'S WORK HAS BEEN DEDICATED
 TO THE HUMANE TREATMENT AND
 RESTORATION OF PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM
 CRANIOFACIAL DEFORMITIES AND INJURIES"

Proudly South Australian, Professor David, former student of Christian Brothers  college at Rostrevor graduated with a dougle degree of Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery from Adelaide University.  Professor David continued is post graduate studies in the UK where he was drawn to specialize in Craniofacial Surgery at a time when surgical intervention in this area was in its infancy.  Gaining experience in England and France with other  pioneers in this field, he helped  to  establish the  International Society of Craniofacial Surgery.

That was almost half a century ago. Since then, based back in Adelaide, Professor David has not only become an international leader in this field the unit he founded, namely the Australian  Craniofacial Unit  based at the  Royal Adelaide Hospital and the Women's  and Children's Hospital has received world excellence recognition. Those five decades carry a story that is long, rich and colourful and well beyond the time we have to recount.   But suffice it to say, that  his vision has been the  driving  force behind  the development of a global network  of medical centres and organisations that bring together  professionals and practitioners from various fields of specialisation connecting people of many countries and creeds and also educates local people to become skilled in this work.

Andrea Ogier was the first patient to undergo Plastic Surgery here in South Australia. Andrea has detailed her journey in a book she released in 2013, “Finding My Voice”.

Andrea regularly travels on speaking engagements and her story touches the heart of all those she meets. Andrea was born not only with a cleft palate, she also had a soft and hard palate deformity, which meant she didn’t have a roof in her mouth. In her early years she was unable to speak, eat and drink in the way most of us know how.

Despite all these obstacles Andrea overcame society’s taunts and is a much in demand speaker on behalf of the Craniofacial Australia.

If you would like to book Andrea as your next group speaker you can contact Andrea by either calling our office on 8267 4128 or emailing Andrea at findingmyvoice44@gmail.com
